About a electrical polarity testing
Electrical Polarity Testing is an additional service that can be added to any SURE residential inspection (except the Final Inspection, where it is already included as standard). Testing is completed to all accessible power points to identify defective wiring conditions between the plug and RCD, including reverse polarity, open earth, and open neutral faults.
These defects are not visible to the naked eye and cannot be identified in a standard visual building inspection. Adding polarity testing provides documented evidence of any electrical safety issues before you take possession.

About electrical polarity testing
Is polarity testing included in the Final Inspection?
Yes, polarity testing to all accessible power points is a standard part of the Final Inspection and does not need to be added separately.
What does polarity testing find?
Polarity testing identifies defective wiring conditions between the power point and the RCD (residual current device). Reverse polarity, open earth, and open neutral conditions can be identified, these are safety hazards.
Is polarity testing the same as an electrical inspection?
No. Polarity testing checks the functional serviceability of power points. A full electrical compliance inspection requires a licensed electrician and covers the switchboard, wiring, and installations in more detail.
Can polarity testing be booked as a standalone service?
Polarity testing is an add-on to any inspection booking. It is not offered as a standalone service, it is designed to complement a structural, combined, or comprehensive inspection.
How much does it cost?
Electrical polarity testing is $100 inc GST as an add-on to any residential inspection. It is included at no extra charge in the Final Inspection.
