  • Property boundary adjoins bushland, a nature reserve, a drain reserve, or mature street trees
  • Large eucalypts or other native trees within foraging range (typically 50–100m)
  • Inspector noting elevated termite pressure in the surrounding suburb or street
  • No visible termite inspection zone or durable notice confirming barrier installation
  • Evidence of active foraging in garden timbers, stumps, or mulch on the allotment

Remedies

  • Implement a termite management plan under AS 3660.1 - chemical soil treatment or a physical barrier system installed by a licensed pest manager
  • Schedule annual termite inspections at intervals no greater than 12 months, or more frequently where pressure is identified as high
  • Remove timber debris, wood piles, and excessive mulch from the perimeter to reduce on-site food sources
  • Monitor and maintain vegetation so root systems and branches do not bridge over or under the barrier zone
  • Liaise with immediate neighbours about coordinated inspection and treatment to reduce colony pressure across the block boundary
